Day 1 | The Ghan Expedition — Katherine | -/L/D

Begin your journey with welcome drinks and a photo beside The Ghan’s iconic red locomotive before settling into your cabin or socialising in the Outback Explorer Lounge. After a chef-prepared lunch onboard as you travel south, arrive in Katherine for your chosen Off Train Experience—whether cruising through Katherine (Nitmilik) Gorge, visiting the Katherine Outback Experience, exploring Cutta Cutta Caves, or taking an optional scenic helicopter flight above the gorge.

Day 2 | The Ghan Expedition — Alice Springs | B/L/D

Wake to the wide-open Outback skies and enjoy a hearty breakfast on board before arriving in Alice Springs for your choice of Off Train Experiences—from off-road e-biking and town landmark tours to guided walks through Standley Chasm and Simpsons Gap, visits to Alice Springs Desert Park, or an upgraded scenic flight over Uluru and Kata Tjuta. As night falls, cap off the day at the historic Alice Springs Telegraph Station with a signature dining experience featuring fine food, live entertainment, and white-tablecloth service under the desert stars.

Day 3 | The Ghan Expedition and Coober Pedy | B/L/D

Start the day watching the sunrise at the remote outpost of Manguri before heading into Coober Pedy, the opal capital of the world, where over half the population lives underground. After enjoying a unique gourmet lunch subterranean, choose your Off Train Experience—explore the striking Breakaways, discover local attractions, learn about opal mining history, or upgrade to a scenic flight over the Painted Hills and Lake Eyre. To wrap up your final evening on board, savor dinner in the dining carriage followed by a nightcap in the lounge as The Ghan travels on to Adelaide.
