Chad

We’ve reviewed our advice for Chad and continue to advise do not travel to Chad, and continue to advise reconsider your need to travel to the capital N’Djamena. The border with Sudan remains closed until further notice. Chad is extremely dangerous due to the risk of terrorism, kidnapping, civil unrest and violent crime. If, despite our advice, you travel to Chad, seek professional security advice. Avoid crowds, including any demonstrations or protests. Follow the advice of local authorities. Our ability to provide consular services in Chad is extremely limited. For consular assistance, contact the Australian Embassy in Paris (see ‘Local contacts’).

We continue to advise:

Do not travel to Chad overall due to the dangerous security situation and the threat of terrorism, kidnapping and violent crime.
