Kenya

We’ve reviewed our advice for Kenya and continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution. Terrorists maintain a strong interest in attacking foreigners in Nairobi and other major population centres in Kenya. Attacks could occur at any time and with little or no warning. Avoid areas prone to attack and remain vigilant if visiting public areas (see ‘Full advice – Safety – Terrorism’).

Protests can be expected across Kenya. Avoid protests and public gatherings. Monitor the media and follow the advice of local authorities.

We now also advise reconsider your need to travel to the border areas with South Sudan and Ethiopia (except Mandera County where we continue to advise Do Not Travel).

We advise:

Exercise a high degree of caution in Kenya overall due to the high crime levels and the threat of terrorist attack.

Higher levels apply in some areas.
