There is an extreme risk of terrorism in Cabo Delgado province and in Erati and Memba districts of Nampula province. We continue to advise do not travel to Cabo Delgado province, Erati and Memba districts of Nampula province. Terrorists are likely to target areas frequented by foreigners or where foreign companies operate and where expatriate staff reside. Australians in Cabo Delgado and in Erati and Memba districts of Nampula province should leave the area if it’s safe to do so. If you decide to remain in the area, maintain heightened security awareness, monitor local media and follow the advice of local authorities.

We advise:

Exercise a high degree of caution in Mozambique overall due to the risk of terrorism and high levels of serious crime.
