Being the Cruise specialist at BLT I was Lucky enough to sail on “Viking Orion” to give my customers the best personal experience.
First let me say it was one of my favourite Cruises.

The ship was brand new just over 6 month of age, the crew was amazing, it was never crowded and the best part was, it’s Adults only. No children under 18 years of age are allowed, meaning it was very quiet the whole time we cruised.
The youngest person we saw was approx. 35 years of age, the average age was around 55+.
The ship carries only 930 passengers at full capacity and 47,800 GT. No Inside or Ocean view cabins only Balconies also known as “Veranda Staterooms” which is the lead in Cabin with 25sq.m or 270 sq.ft all the way to the Explorer Suite with 108 sq.m or 1163 sq.ft

Complimentary drinks…meaning free Wine, Beer or Soft drinks during meal times…
Water, Tea and coffee were available nearly all the times….And there is an espresso machine in every cabin….
And surprise!!! You can bring your own Spirit on the Ship….
Nobody hassles you on Board. There are no photographers, no Liquor or Jewellery sales…no Bingo or a Casino.
The Movies in the Stateroom are free, depending of your cabin type the Minibar is complimentary as well.
Oh did I mention the free Internet during your whole Cruise???? With very good reception.
Viking Orion has one free shore excursion in each Port. Inclusive of your fare.
The Ships supplies passengers with free laundry facilities and free washing powder…..
While you are waiting for your washing or doing the ironing you can watch a Movie in the laundry room.
All Viking ships have a Thermal suite on Board. Steam rooms, big indoor saltwater thermal pool, showers, changing rooms, hot tubs, heated ceramic lounge chairs and even a Snow grotto….. All is inclusive

All Staterooms have a nice Decor….The beds are very comfortable with heaps of storage available. If you need more space, there is always the option to place your suitcase underneath the beds. The bathroom has a generous size with a big shower and a glass door, when heading into the colder climate the bathroom floor has central heating.

For smokers, there is a small area far away from all the passengers on the upper deck.

Viking offers 2 Pool areas. The Infinity Pool and the main Pool area …both with heaps of lounges around it and was never crowded.

The main Pool area also includes a Jacuzzi and a bar and Grill area which is open all day. The Retractable roof which can be closed during rainy or cold weather which very practical however that unfortunately had a few issues.
If the roof is closed its very hot and steamy, there is no cooling system….At least they didn’t turn it on.
If the Roof is open it’s a beautiful breeze but hardly any shade.
Pool Towels are plentiful at no extra charge or sign in or out for them.
Dining is all time dining…..And the speciality Restaurants are free of charge at no extras cost but you will need to do your reservations.
The food in the dining room was very well presented and staff was very helpful always polite and happy….
The World Cafe has also plenty of seatings…. inside and outside…. The food was sensational.

At 4 pm there is High Tea in the Wintergarden. Highly to recommend…..Everyday with live music, as Violin players or with other soft music…that gives it another nice touch…

Every night the Show starts at 9.15pm … We had amazing talented Entertainer while we cruised….two even with standing ovation….
A highlight was dancing underneath the Stars or the movie…..next to the Pool area…..

Unfortunately you could only choose between the Show and the Movie on deck. Both started at the same time which could have been better coordinated.
Viking is not really a party ship…..There is only one small nightclub with live music which stops around 11pm… Otherwise not much to do, except listening to vey talented Guitar players or a Duo playing classical music…. play board games…. And the last night cap.
Putting it all together
If you don’t like partying, like to have it quiet, don’t need much entertainment, like the feeling of a boutique ship , like to be spoiled…..than I would highly recommend Viking Cruises.
