Silversea Sensation

The countdown is on for the launch of Silversea’s upcoming flagship—and Silver Muse’s younger sister—Silver Moon.

It certainly doesn’t take long to fall under the spell of life onboard the chic and sleek all-suite Silver Muse, the current flagship, on a four-night mini-escape from Cairns to Brisbane that is so luxurious it sparks stowaway musings. We stand on the polished teak deck watching the spectacular scene and agree it’s one of those precious moments you want to bottle forever.

I have a new best friend, our butler Vikram, and although I am unaccustomed to life with a butler, Vikram is perfect. Never is a pillow unfluffed, a towel unfolded or an ice bucket empty in our airy veranda balcony suite—a gorgeous space complete with walk-in dressing room and marble ensuite with a stand-alone bath.

How often are you presented with a choice of bathroom treats on a silver tray? “Would you like Bulgari or Ortigia Sicilia soap—or both?” Vikram asks. Then there’s a choice of nine pillows from the pillow menu—that’s even harder.

Even though it’s a full house onboard, there’s plenty of room for all. Launched in 2017, Silver Muse is about to be bumped off its pedestal by the much-anticipated new Silversea addition, Silver Moon, which sets sail on August 6 next year.

Boutique in size, Silver Moon is ideal for slipping into ports that bigger ships can’t visit. Exciting itineraries are planned, including a 10-night cruise from Barcelona to Lisbon leaving on August 24 that visits nine picturesque ports in five countries. Highlights of the classic Western Mediterranean ports include the big guns—Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Rome, Malaga and Cadiz; an overnight stay in Lisbon allows plenty of time to explore this intriguing city.

Eclectic enrichment programs, language classes and art and craft workshops are some of the activities to be offered aboard, along with fabulous entertainment, indulgent spa treatments and fun sporting activities.

The countdown is on and excitement mounting for Silver Moon’s debut. Factor in plenty of those precious moments such as sea-gazing across the boundless blue waters by day and watching dappled moonlight dance across the waves at night and she’s set to out-dazzle all.

SALT has a new meaning onboard Silver Moon

Introducing newest Silversea fleet member, Silver Moon, which will offer a dining experience to remember.

Words: Sue Wallace

Picture blue skies, a white fluffy cloud or two, turquoise seas and cheeky dolphins surfing the waves, while Champagne flutes are topped up with chilled French bubbles and fine caviar served, just as the sun dips into the ocean and the sky turns magenta.

That’s a Silversea experience for you. A new arrival to the fleet, Silver Moon, sets sail on August 6 next year and accommodates 596 guests with a crew-to-guest ratio of almost one to one. One of its most delicious enhancements? S.A.L.T.

A new culinary program, S.A.L.T. (Sea and Land Taste) is exciting and different. Food lovers are in for a treat with curated destination experiences that explore the realms of regional produce and customs, on and off the ship. Deck 4 will be the home of the program with a S.A.L.T. kitchen, where regional food will star; S.A.L.T. lab for artisanal workshops; and S.A.L.T. bar for wines and drinks from specific destinations.

As on its elder sister Silver Muse, the new ship will have eight dining options but with some innovations—the Japanese Kaiseki restaurant will be extended, French fine-dining venue La Dame by Relais & Chateaux will show off beautiful new Lalique crystal panels, and guests will be able to dine under the stars at La Terrazza.

La Terrazza, Silver Note, Atlantide, Arts Cafe, The Grill, Spaccanapoli, Panorama Lounge, the Observation Library, Venetian Lounge and the Casino will also have refreshed looks, while public spaces such as the Dolce Vita lounge, Connoisseur’s Corner, the pool deck and the Spa and Fitness Centre have had design changes.

Silver Moon, with its grand stylish suites, will reflect Silversea’s small-ship intimacy and renowned friendly professional service that continues to attract discerning cruise fans who love an all-inclusive cruise and that luxury touch.

Immerse yourself in a new era of cruising from 2020. Step onboard Silver Moon for 7 nights in Europe or for an extended trip, 69 nights in South America.
