A nationwide curfew is in place following an attempted break-in at the Wilberforce military barracks in Freetown. Avoid the area, follow the instructions of authorities and monitor the local media (see ‘Safety’).

Following the recent election, additional security forces have been deployed, with further tensions and political gatherings taking place. Avoid all political and election-related gatherings. Follow the instructions of local authorities and monitor local media for information on ongoing demonstrations.

The Australian High Commission in Accra currently has very limited capacity to provide consular assistance in Sierra Leone.
