There has been an increase in reported incidents of banditry involving passenger buses travelling in the Upper West and Upper East regions resulting in injuries and deaths. In July 2023, a passenger bus travelling from Kumasi to Bawku was attacked at a fuel station in Walewale resulting in several injuries.
